Let Our Music Fly
Our band SIXTH SENSE hails from Labuan, a federal territory located off the coast of Sabah. Labuan is a tourist destination for travellers visiting Sabah, Bruneians and scuba divers. It is also an offshore financial centre. Despite its relatively vibrant commercial and tourism activities, Labuan is not on the radar screen when it comes to music festivals. Nearby cities such as Kota Kinabalu and Miri have already organised their own music festivals, but unfortunately, the music influence from these two neighbouring cities have not spread to Labuan located less than 200 kilometres away.
More often than not, musicians in Labuan have been struggling with the mire of insufficient fund to perform inside and outside the island. The lack of financial support is the very first hurdle we have to overcome to realise our dream to gain more experience and exposure in music.
In our humble opinion, musicians from Labuan should always explore the world and showcase to the world that we do have our own talents. All the experiences we gain will eventually contribute to the very first Labuan Music Festival that we have been craving for years. And before we organise the inaugural Labuan Music Festival to introduce more music genres of the island, we must first learn the know-how from our counterparts in other cities.
In conjunction of the Fringe Event of the Penang Jazz Festival, we formed our band SIXTH SENSE to share our music with audiences from all walks of life. We come from six different bands and groups and this is our project band to introduce our music to our friends in Penang.
The fund raised will be allocated for our travel expenses to perform in Penang. And the remaining fund will be contributed to start Labuan's very first music gig and support the musicians and artistes in our beautiful island.
Sixth Sense are:
Peter Lau

With his vast experience in local and international music performances, Peter has been enjoying his live shows with renowned artistes such as Farid Ali, Mia Palencia and many more.

Simon Lau

Damian Paul
Fondly known as Ed by his friends and family, Damian embraced his musical talent when he was invited to play with the church worship team. He may be new to the music scene but you certainly shouldn't be fooled by his humility as this kid is a whiz on the keys. He has performed with numerous musicians around Sabah and if anyone can tinkle a mean tune, he's the man.

Marc aka MarcVai
Hails from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Marc is a graduate majored in electric guitar in Music Studies from Sabah Institute of Arts. His winning of Sabah Jazz Talent Search in 2011 sealed him an invitation to perform the opening act of the Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival in the same year. Gabry
An experienced live performance singer whose core talent is pop but with a hidden flair for rapping. She was part of the Spice of Tones band which performed during the Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival in 2011. Her interest in music was sparked at an early age when she picked up piano, drum and guitar lessons. Known for her good-naturedness and understanding disposition, you can count on her to deliver heartfelt renditions of songs.

Genie
Labuan-born singer cum songwriter who has been passionate about music from a very young age finding inspiration from the likes of Diana Krall, Julie London and Norah Jones. In 2011, she became the back-up vocalist for renowned singer Dayang Nurfaizah during the Konsert Gala 25 Tahun RTM Labuan event. Following that, she sang with the Spice of Tones during the Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival. In 2012, her song Liar, Liar – a self-composed piece written in reminiscence of her ex-boyfriend – was released. This catchy jazz bossa number, produced by Chris Pereira under Eyes and Ears Production, swept to the top of the local English chart weeks after it hit the airwaves.
